An annual event since 2010, the CT Business Matchmaker, provides an opportunity for small to large businesses committed to expanding their government contract and subcontracting opportunities.
“The Matchmaker program is a premier event offering significant new opportunities for Connecticut-based small businesses,” said Fred Wergeles, Director of the University of Hartford’s Entrepreneurial Center. “Bringing together large companies and agencies with small businesses in the fast-paced Matchmaker environment creates the spark for emerging relationships that will fuel the state’s economy. The Entrepreneurial Center provides pre-event training for both the large and small businesses to maximize the value of their participation in the program.”
Wergeles also emphasized his organization’s effort to reach out to businesses run by women and minorities. “Through our Women’s Business Center, we also focus on recruiting women-owned and minority-owned businesses,” he explained. “These businesses traditionally receive fewer contracts, so we strive to provide more opportunities for them through this event.”
INVALUABLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
CT Business Matchmaker 2017 will offer an invaluable opportunity for small business owners to expand their contracting relationships. During the event, small businesses will present their products and services to potential customers in a series of 10- minute, one-on-one interviews with Primes. All Prime participants—including state and federal agencies, large corporations, municipalities, and educational institutions—come to the event with business needs they are seeking to fill.
“The CT Business Matchmaker was a terrific use of my time. In just a matter of two hours I had six excellent meetings!” said Listenable LLC Founder Alexandra Roman. “People were receptive, open, and genuinely helpful. A unique and useful event.”
At the event, small businesses meet with primes (including large and medium-sized companies, municipalities, government agencies, and educational institutions) to present their products and services in a series of 10-minute one-on-one interviews. This winning process enables primes and small businesses to quickly identify potential partnerships.
“The CT Business Matchmaker has allowed us to bring viable small businesses into our diverse supplier family. The event is a must-attend: well-planned, organized, and executed. The small businesses come well-prepared and, as a result, I have made connections and formed relationships that will soon turn into real business,” said Jay Sheldon Wesley, Head of Global Supplier Diversity and Performance at Pitney Bowes, Inc.
