Girls For Technology is hosting a pitch competition for Connecticut women of color entrepreneurs. The Building For Equity Pitch Accelerator will take place Thursday, November 11 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Society Room in Hartford. Registration is required.

How It Works

Nine startups have been selected to present a two-minute pitch of their businesses. Each pitch will be followed by a three-minute Q&A from a panel of esteemed judges. At the end, the judges will come together and select the top three businesses. These winners will receive cash prizes of $10,000, $5,000, and $3,000 respectively. In addition, a “Crowd Favorite” award will be selected by the audience.

 COVID-19 Precautions
The safety of all participants is our top priority. We will follow local and CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and mask-wearing.

Please note this is an indoor event and these guidelines are subject to change. By order of the City of Hartford, masks are required for all attendees, regardless of vaccination status, unless currently consuming food or beverage. Please do not attend this event if you are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19.

In the state of Connecticut, capacity restrictions for gatherings and social events have been eliminated. Vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask at indoor events; however, it is strongly encouraged. Unvaccinated individuals are still required to wear a mask indoors, with an exemption of people consuming food or beverage in an indoor venue serving food/beverage. Additionally, we are closely monitoring the ever-evolving pandemic conditions. Should COVID-19 conditions worsen, we will shift our Pitch Competition to an online format.
