Over the past year and half, I have had the pleasure of working with the MetroHartford Alliance and a volunteer steering committee to help find a way to make the Greater Hartford region a destination for entrepreneurs and innovators wanting to start up a business or grow their business.
This diverse group of entrepreneurs, service providers, educators and public officials dedicated itself to help the MetroHartford Alliance create a roadmap that could be sustained and supported in the long-run by the community.
In spite of many challenges, this group of committed volunteers aligned their efforts with those of the MetroHartford Alliance, reSET, the city of Hartford and others to support the entrepreneurial spirit of emerging companies.
The effort was branded to be named Innovation Destination: Hartford. The MetroHartford Alliance reached out to form a partnership with MassChallenge, the largest and most successful accelerator program in the world to enhance the region’s capacity to recruit and mentor startups and emerging entrepreneurs.
We are on the path to success due in part to dedicated people who care about our community and its future. As Thomas Edison said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
I hope we never give up.
