In June of 2016, Independent Software’s Apprentice100 Program was certified by the State of Connecticut Department of Labor and the Connecticut State Department of Education as the first software developer apprenticeship program in the country.
“The certification is a welcome recognition of the company’s work over the last four years building a program that has now recruited and trained more than 150 aspiring young collegiate software engineers, connecting them with more than 30 companies to start their career,” says Derek Koch, CEO & Founder of Independent Software.
“This work is part of the company’s commitment to closing the gap in new software developers that exists in the State of Connecticut,” he added. “It also presents a unique opportunity for employers to access over $12,500 in financing to help them train and develop new starting software engineers as part of our Startup Gap Year initiative.”
