CTNext awarded $44,000 to top startups at its latest Entrepreneur Innovation Awards. Nine finalists were considered for the event, which was held June 15 at The LOFT at Chelsea Piers in Stamford. Learn more about the June 2017 Entrepreneur Innovation Awards finalists.
The June 2017 Entrepreneur Innovation Awards winners include:
- Egghead of Danbury, CT received a $10,000 award. The company developed an innovative new way to package and sell ice cream.
- Fjord Weather Systems of Wilton, CT received a $10,000 award. Fjord is developing a method of turning boats into a weather-monitoring systems.
- Lucca Ventures of Southington CT earned a $10,000 award. Lucca is creating a Bluetooth-enabled microphone attachment to a full-face oxygen mask that enables patients to communicate clearly while wearing it.
- Obvia LLC of West Hartford, CT received a $10,000 award, plus $2,000 judges’ favorite award. The startup is manufacturing dual-winglet blades and power upgrades for Sunforce Wind Turbines designed to improve efficiency and scalability for the turbines.
In addition, Entrepreneur Innovation Awards finalist Deo2go of Fairfield, CT won the $2,000 crowd favorite award. The company is creating a topical delivery device that can be filled with a variety of products including, but not limited to deodorant, lip balms, and sunscreen.
CTNext hosts the Entrepreneur Innovation Awards throughout the year. The Shark Tank–style pitch events enable Connecticut-based startups and entrepreneurs to compete for grants that can be applied toward specific projects that will help accelerate growth. Since its inception in 2014, CTNext has held 12 events in cities and towns throughout Connecticut, awarding $588,000 to 56 unique companies.
