On Wednesday, August 23, 2017 the MetroHartford Alliance hosted The Rising Star Awards Breakfast, “Inspirational Leadership: Finding the Best Way to Extraordinary Results at Work.”
Open to the public, the Rising Star Breakfast signature program is typically held monthly. The events showcase an array of notable speakers, addressing a range of topics from economic and business development to politics and sports to issues impacting the Hartford Region, the nation, and our world. The events provide an opportunity to engage and network with 200 to 400 business, civic, educational, and political leaders from the Greater Hartford region.
MetroHartford Alliance President and CEO Oz Griebel kicked off another informative event by introducing Paula Gilberto, President and CEO of event sponsor the United Way, who emphasized the importance of community building and noted that it is the “people and organizations [in Greater Hartford] that are creating innovative solutions.”
Featured speaker Jen Grace Baron, Founding Partner & Chief Inspiration Officer of InspireCorps, began her talk with a “reset ritual” in which audience members were asked to sit on the edge of their seats and rub their palms together.
Once she had their attention, Jen continued to lead the audience through an engaging discussion about leadership and inspiration, noting that every member of the audience “chose to be here because you are inspired.”
An inspired person looks “high jacked by positive emotions,” she added.
Jen’s talk focused on InspireCorps’ pillars of inspiration which include the body, emotion, and mind. She also emphasized that “leadership is a full-contact sport,” noting that “it is a leader’s first job to inspire themselves.”
Later she noted, “You never know how taking an action can spark and inspire others,” adding, “one plus one can equal 80.”
InspireCorps “builds agile and inspired leaders, teams, and organizations, ready to predict and lead change.” Find out more in our interview with InspireCorps Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer Allison Aboud Holzer: Startup Focuses On Sustainable Inspiration and Leadership Agility.
