The Entrepreneurs Heart Greater Hartford blog series is a collaboration between Hartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs (HYPE) and reSET Social Enterprise.
Greater Hartford entrepreneurs are committed to their work and the city of Hartford. The videos examine how young entrepreneurs have chosen their work and provide examples of the ways in which they are making an impact in their communities.
Erin Drennan founded InstaCraft while she was a student at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). There she studied business management with a focus on entrepreneurship. She came up with the business concept for InstaCraft based on a class assignment to propose a business idea that solved a problem. With the help of mentors and advisors, Erin hopes to take her startup to the next level in the upcoming years.
Erin joined HYPE while she was still at CCSU and says she “Really felt a connection to the people I met there. Everyone was really excited that I was starting a business and super welcoming about any way they could help and any contacts they could give me.”
She notes that, “Hartford was more of a community than I was expecting.” She adds, “Hartford offers so many opportunities [including] contacts and some connections and partnerships I’ve already found. I find that really useful to anyone starting a business.”
